This is the small wooden tea ceremony that is situated on an offshore cliff facing Pacific Ocean. The steep cliff gives us the constraint to build it in a certain orientation, so that we visited the place to determine the arrangement, making clear the possible volume and parcel of lands and the scenery at a given angle. From the top of the cliff, you see huge ocean and spectacular quay at the seashore. Moreover, there is almost no artificial object here in the natural park. What is outstanding is the stark contrast in scale between overwhelmingly great nature and small 4.5 mats. From these geographical characteristics, we aim to juxtapose the beautiful scenery in far place with this small tea ceremony like a Japanese landscape art. The shape resembles a megaphone or boxed water glass, from which you can look into a sea. The square frame combined with 34mm-thick timbers is laid out in a continuous way like louver from inside to the outside at equal distance, where only the inside parts of the frame, plywood with randomly small holes is attached as a window. This wooden boxed ceremony stands on four pillars at the unstable rocky area. The 1.8 m frames in black continuously line up from the frontage to the balcony, gradually opening to the sea. The 2.7m tip of square frame well captures the scenery of beautiful sea and quay.
